Affiliate Disclosure

In 2015, the Federal Trade Commission released their new rules for Disclosure Compliance. These rules are set in place to ensure that readers or viewers of web media (blogs, Youtube videos, etc.) know if the blogger/presenter is sponsored, endorsed, or partnered with a different company. In blog terms, the readers need to know if the blogger is making money by sharing a link or product.

In compliance with the FTC guidelines, please assume the following about links and posts on this site: Any/all of the links are affiliate links of which I receive a small compensation from sales of certain items.

What are affiliate links?

Purchases are made on external affiliate company websites: When a reader clicks on an affiliate link located on .com to purchase an item, the reader buys the item from the seller directly (not from Amazon and/or other companies pay a small commission or other compensation for promoting their website or products through their affiliate program.

Prices are exactly the same for you if your purchase is through an affiliate link or a non-affiliate link. You will not pay more by clicking through to the link.

I use two main types of affiliate programs:

1. Amazon affiliate links. is a participant in the Amazon Services LLC Associates Program, an affiliate advertising program designed to provide a means for sites to earn advertising fees by advertising and linking to Amazon properties including, but not limited to, Amazon offers a small commission on products sold through their affiliate links. Each of your purchases via our Amazon affiliation links supports our cause at no additional cost to you.

If a blogger links to an Amazon product (with a special code for affiliates embedded in the link), and a reader places an item in their “shopping cart” through that link within 24 hours of clicking the link, the blogger gets a small percentage of the sale. Amazon links are not “pay per click.” If you click on the product link and stay around Amazon and purchase something else, however, I will get commission on that sale.

Anytime you see a link that looks like… or… it can be assumed that it is an Amazon affiliate link.

2. Product affiliate links.

These affiliate links work the same way: if you click the link and buy the product, then the blogger gets a percentage of the sale or some other type of compensation. Things like e-book bundles, e-courses, and online packages are usually affiliate links, as well. Again, prices are not different if you use these affiliate links. You will not pay more by clicking through to the link. These links are not “pay per click”, unless otherwise denoted.

What about sponsored content?

I do not write sponsored posts. I want to bring you real, unbiased information. However, if a post is sponsored by a company and it is a paid sponsorship, I will disclose this clearly in the beginning of the post.

Work From Home

Work from Home:

When you work from home, you have no commuting time this can save you several hours per day.  No commuting also equates to reduced stress, which will benefit your overall health!! To be successful at whatever work at home business you choose, you have to be self-motivated and stay focused, I recommend creating a dedicated space in your home which will result in fewer interruptions.  Set your schedule with the primary work hours you plan to work each day (even if it 1 or 2 hours), and inform your family and friends that although you are home you are not available during set hours. You decide if you want to vary your schedule not those around you.

If you goggle work at home jobs you can quickly become overwhelmed with the amount of stuff on the web and how do you know if it is legit?  Some work at home jobs are very costly and may reap very low income if any.  Do your research!

One online business I believe can net a nice profit if you are willing to put in the work is Affiliate Marketing.  My first introduction to Affiliate Marketing was when I started searching for ways to make money online, I took a webinar and the person who owned the company showed how you could make money online for free using Affiliate Marketing, after 1 ½ hours he had peeked my interest but the closer was “if you are one of the first 25 to sign up with me today, you get the discounted rate of $1,000”.  If I had $1,000 I might have signed up, but I didn’t have $1,000 this is why I was searching online for ways to make money in the first place, because I was basically broke.  My husband and I had two mortgages, and #3 son was in his freshman year of college….need I say more.  We were paying the bills, but there was nothing extra left for travel or anything else.

Since the internet is a wealth of information, I decided I didn’t need to spend $1,000 to learn about Affiliate Marketing, I would just figure it out on my own.  I started searching for Affiliate Marketing Companies, and soon discovered that I needed a website before I could apply to be an affiliate with most of the reputable companies. Several years ago I tried to build a website and let’s just say it didn’t go so good, and I wasted a lot of money. So my first task was to see what I could find for free.  I tried several and quickly found out that I needed some help.  I had skipped over one affiliate marketing website that said it was SIMPLE, and that the process takes less than 30 seconds.  I decided to check them out.  This is how I found Wealthy Affiliates.  I encourage your to check them out, click here to read my review.

Make Money Online

Did you know that on average Google processes 40,000 searches per second?  That equates to 3.5 Billion search queries per day!  That was an eye opener for me.  I know that you can make money online, but why do people try and fail?  One reason is they expect immediate results, and when that doesn’t happen they give up.   Making money online is not going to be an overnight “poof” now your are rich endeavor!  To make money online takes time and effort.  You have to do your research, find a niche and work hard at making a good website to market your niche.  Put in the work, don’t give up and don’t expect overnight success and you may just find yourself with a tidy income from Internet Marketing.

Getting Your Site Ranked

First lets start with some definitions:

Page Rank is an algorithm used by Google Search to rank websites in their search engine results, and it measures the importance of website pages.

The Search Engine is a web based software system that searches for information on the web in response to a topic or keywords specified by a user.  Popular Search Engines are Google, Yahoo & Bing.

Meta Tags are small bits of text that help tell search engines what your page is about.  The meta tags don’t show up on the page itself, they only exist in HTML, usually at the top or “head” of the page.  Meta Keywords are a good example of a meta tag that may have been important years ago but aren’t now. Google has taken out the meta keyword from its ranking algorithm, because marketers were using a technique known as “keyword stuffing” inserting keywords that were unrelated to their pages so they could pirate traffic from more popular pages

Title Tags have a real impact on search engines and they are the most important of the meta tags, they appear at the top of the web browser when viewing a Web page and at the top of (most) search engines.

Keyword is a word or phrase entered into a search engine to find a product or topic, etc. online.

Keyword Research is the act of finding keywords that are relevant to your niche or website.  Keywords added to the content of your website will aid in getting rankings in search engines like Google, Bing, and Yahoo, and will help drive the appropriate audience to your website.  There are many Keyword Research tools available, I’ve included one that I use, give it a try:

Why do you want your page ranked?

When a user searches for information, rarely do they go past the 1st or 2nd page of search results, a page that is ranked high in search engines like Google and Yahoo mean more traffic to your site, and that results in more sales or advertising revenue.

The Do’s and Don’ts

Write great quality content on your website, be sure you write to your audience and not to the Search Engines.

Don’t try and trick your way to the top of the results, Google wants to list the best sites, so you will ultimately fail if all you are focused on is the ranking. Instead focus on quality content and the rankings will come.

You also want to update you content regularly, add posts and blogs that complement what your site is about.  Make sure your pages load quickly and don’t contain broken links. Don’t fill your page with a bunch of keywords that aren’t’ relevant  to your topic.  Only get links to other pages that have similar content.

About Me

Hi I’m Debbie, I’m a wife and mom of 3 wonderful boys.  I have always had an entrepreneurial spirit, have had many hobbies and tried many avenues to find a way to make extra money.

I started out years and years ago with my husband making Christmas wreaths and decorations, which we sold out of our basement. This was before our children came along, and we worked really hard but made very little money. Next I was introduced to an MLM Company which again I pulled my husband into. At this point we had two of our three boys. For years, we spent lots of weekends away from our children working the MLM business. Instead of making money we were going further in debt buying products to demo, and spending money for travel. We finally gave up because the time away from our children and money spent building the business did not reap the rewards as we were led to believe.

In 2010, I had my first interaction with building a website, I was making jewelry, and I was encouraged by friends and family to sell my jewelry online. I knew nothing about building a website, but went to a seminar and purchased a website at a very high cost. To build the website, you could follow a book and build it yourself, or the company would build it for you….at an additional cost! So I built it myself and then found out that I had to get my website ranked. The company would sell me a package to do the keyword searches that I would need. It turned out that all the help they promised, and all the tools that I was to have access to were actually not included in what I had already paid but were all additional cost. Meanwhile, I was not making jewelry because I was spending so much time figuring out how to build the website. So once again, I decided it was better to just cut my losses.

My interest in Affiliate Marketing came from an email I received to watch a webinar. The person doing the webinar was offering “help” to build an Affiliate Marketing business, if you were one of the first 25 to sign up it was going to cost a thousand dollars, after the first 25 then the cost jumped to almost three thousand dollars (yikes)! I’ve been suckered into enough stuff to know that there was no way I was going to sign up. The information in the webinar did peek my interest though so I started my own online research. That is where I stumbled upon Wealthy Affiliate. Sign-up is free, they teach website building and help people like us create successful online businesses. Thanks to their help, I was able to create this website, and I want to help others create their websites with ease so that they can get on with building their affiliate marketing business. Wealthy Affiliate is more like a community than a company, because you get the help of other members too, there is so much giving and sharing (not like your typical 9-5 job). Try it out yourself if you are interested in creating an awesome website and making money online click here.

First and foremost I want to help others learn how to create a website that gets ranked high in the search engines, without investing huge sums of money. The cool thing and why I am so excited about Wealthy Affiliate is that there are no up sales, they tell you what you get with the Starter Membership and with the Premium Membership, and all the extras that come along with each of those platforms don’t cost you extra.

If you ever need a hand or have any questions, feel free to leave them below and I will be more than happy to help you out.

All the best,

Getting Started On Your Affiliate Marketing Journey

Have you wasted money of something you though would bring you financial freedom, only to find out you are just helping someone else with their financial freedom?  I have and that’s why I want to help others learn How to Affiliate Marketing Online.

What is Affiliate Marketing?  It is when an online merchant partners with an website owner to help sell their products by placing advertisements for products or services  on their site.  When a customer buys a product based on an ad from your website, you are paid a commission by the Merchant.  Amazon and Walmart are two examples of Affiliate Marketing Companies.

This form of marketing can be very profitable, but it requires work and some people just don’t know where to start.

When I was learning about affiliate marketing, I knew I had to have a website, but where to start.  I found an online company called Wealthy Affiliates  they offer free membership options,  expert advice, training, resources, and they have a community of affiliates that are willing to share their experiences. I became a member and am glad I did!

Wealthy Affiliates will show you how to build your website, teach you about using social media, creating customer databases through social media interaction, and much more.  In addition you get 2 free websites
